Fellow Young People,

One of my primary reasons for running for public office is to fill a void in politics. The void I'm speaking about is young people. Our generation is a bright one. Where technological intellect is among our most basic common skill, Much more higher than the generation before us. As young people, we take very little interest in voting, and so we pay little attention to the important decisions being made for us. A lot of our community's, states, and countries laws that affect us and our finances, were imposed upon you without your knowledge. This only happens when we choose not to choose. We should grasp awareness to the basic issues that directly or indirectly affect us all. I cant tell you how very important, your vote really is...to local government and beyond.

Getting our generation to vote is only the beginning. Getting young people to actually consider running for office is another story. There is a monumental stereotype that exists among many. Many people only associate elected officials with a certain / older age group, someone that has a law degree or is a former law enforcement officer, married with a few children. This is a huge misconception of those who believe that being qualified to make a difference requires any of that criteria. Bright business minds with the good hearts and great ideas are usually absent from the ballot sheet. And bright business minds is what the main criteria should actually be. I believe that a body of government should consist of a few lawyers, a few law enforcement persons, and the rest should be business people. Perhaps, the owner of the local hardware store has a great sense for creating revenue programs, however me may be overlooked as a political candidate because he doesn't fit the stereotype that exists.

I would like to be the lighting rod that encourages young bright minds to be motivated about influencing the factors that affect us all. I would like to become the next District 11 County Commissioner and the youngest commissioner on the Miami Dade County Board of Commissioners. After that, I would like the new standard for political elections to be all about ability and desire to positively change the world.

MAKE SURE YOU VOTE!
